Does the United States need to move towards demilitarizing its police force? Currently police forces around the country have military style weaponry, and are trained in military response techniques. These include automatic weapons, Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles, cellular phone jamming technology and urban tactical rescue vehicles (armored Humvees.) The tactics and training in some modern police forces start with a military styled indoctrination. The police academy's are often patterned directly after boot camp from the modern day military.
